Plus an update for the digital versions
Square Enix released the limited-edition boxed version of Life is Strange ($39.99) today in North America for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It’s coming to Europe this Friday, January 22. What’s included? The full five episodes, a 32-page art book, and the soundtrack.
“Additionally, we’re today releasing patches that will unlock the extra subtitles (Spanish (Mexican & Castilian), Brazilian-Portuguese, Portuguese, German and Italian) as well as the Directors’ Commentary to all digital edition owners. Given the Limited Edition’s rarity, these were two features that we felt the entire community deserved to receive. On top of this, today’s patch also includes further polish and minor improvements to all episodes and some bug fixes.”
If you own the game digitally, the free commentary update might already be live depending on your platform and region. If not, it should be up no latter than January 25, 2016.
I didn’t get around to Life is Strange until late last year, so it’s fairly fresh on my mind. I liked it! Way more than expected, in fact. The game fell apart during its final episode, but the journey leading up to that point was worthwhile, and I’m hopeful Dontnod is willing and able to make another season (or a similar game) with a new cast. Square Enix seems to be giving it extra attention lately.
