You get one as a little treat
A Kirby 64 Switch Online release is imminent, as Nintendo has confirmed the news via a new YouTube trailer.
Released in the year 2000 as the first “mainline” Kirby game since 1997’s Dream Land 3, and the first 3D entry in the series, the oddball Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards cemented itself as one of the stranger entries in the fluffball franchise. Like most N64 games of that era, it also sported a local four-player multiplayer element: which is now a lost art as games struggle to provide split-screen play for even two people.
As most people who have played it will tell you: it’s a very simplistic 3D game, as it’s quite short, but literally sweet (cute). In other words, it’s the perfect game to get as a part of a larger subscription service.Ā Kirby 64 Switch Online is out on May 20 as a solo release (that we know of so far).
As usual, this will only be available to Switch Online + Expansion Pack premium members, as part of the Nintendo 64 retro suite. Note that just this week Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed that “most” of the US subscriber base upgraded to the Expansion Pack, as the company continues to ponder how they intend to add more value to the service.
