In many ways, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is looking to be a new chapter for the series. Not only is there a new voice actor for Mario and Luigi — Kevin Afghani — but this is also the first traditional 2D Mario title since New Super Mario Bros U in 2012. So, now that the game is out, are there any surprises hiding underneath its surface?
Super Mario Bros. Wonder lets players control Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, Toadette, Nabbit, and Yoshi. But, could there be some unlockable characters from the series’ rich tapestry of games? How about Rosalina from Super Mario Galaxy?

No, you can’t unlock Rosalina in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Prior to the game’s release, rumors surfaced that the cosmic princess would appear as a secret, unlockable character. But now that the game’s out, we can officially confirm Rosalina is not affiliated with this latest title.
I find this to be rather interesting, given her extreme presence in the series lately. She was last seen in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and Mario Strikers Battle League in 2022, and I fondly recall playing her in Super Mario 3D World when the Nintendo Switch port was released in 2021. I suppose the hardcore Rosalina stans will have to hold out hope that Nintendo either adds the beloved character to Wonder in a set of post-launch DLC. Or if not that, hopefully she’ll appear in the next mainline Mario game instead.
