Diving solo but without ever feeling lonely
Alongside Battlebit Remastered,Ā Dave the Diver is Steam’s hot new thing. Though some may worry that this game’s success is similar to another title with “diver” in its title, you can rest assured that Dave’s laurels rest entirely on its own merits.
Unlike the average Steam blockbuster, Dave the Diver is an indie title, which automatically makes it much more mysterious in nature. Naturally, everyone is wondering what the heck it is about. Some of the most common questions will be regarding its online functionality, so we have to inform you that Dave the Diver does not include multiplayer, at least for the foreseeable future. That, however, shouldn’t deter anyone from experiencing this gem.
Why Dave the Diver multiplayer doesn’t matter
Not all games need to be multiplayer. Dave the Diver joins Dredge, Abzu, Soma,Ā Subnautica, and who knows how many others in the ranks of games set in the ocean that excel at the single-player experience.
If you thought there had to be more to this game than just diving, then you’re correct. During the day, the titular Dave works as a diver to get fish, yes, but there’s much more that we won’t spoil. What we can tell you is that he also owns a sushi restaurant ā hence getting all the fish ā that he operates during the night.
Is Dave the diver an evolved lifeform that has grown past the need for sleep? Is this game clever criticism of today’s work culture? Were there mechanics where Dave needed to abuse all sorts of chemicals just so he can stay awake before the final cut? We don’t know. What we do know, however, is that this is a damn fun game that anyone looking for something fresh should consider getting.
