Is Belly Drum a TM in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

Boost your attack sky high

If you are interested in fighting high-level Tera Raids, you’re probably looking at giving a Pokemon Belly Drum. This move cuts a Pokemon’s HP by half its max health, but raises its attack stat by six stages. With the right party members who can provide healing or defensive support, this can produce devastating damage. Iron Hands and Azumarill with Huge Power are both prime candidates for Belly Drum builds. In fact, you can click here to check out our detailed guide on how to build a Belly Drum Azumarill from scratch.

That said, you may be wondering what TM can teach a Pokemon Belly Drum. In truth, you aren’t going to find a TM for this one. That said, the process of teaching a Pokemon Belly Drum isn’t difficult if you know what to do.

How to teach a Pokemon Belly Drum

There is no TM in Scarlet & Violet that teaches Belly Drum. Many Pokemon will naturally learn Belly Drum, they just need to be at the right level. If you are raising an Iron Hands, it will learn Belly Drum at level 84. A hefty grind for sure, but you’ll want maxed out Pokemon if you are looking to participate in 5-Star and 6-Star Tera Raids.

Makuhita and Hariyama will know Belly Drum by level 26, and any Zangoose will have Belly Drum in its move pool. Just add any Zangoose to your party, select “Check Summary,” and scroll over to its moves and stats. Select “Remember moves” and pick Belly Drum. Voila!

If you want to teach Belly Drum to an Azumarill, you’ll need to do a bit of work. Azumarill learns Belly Drum as an egg move, but don’t throw away the Azumarill you’ve been building just yet. Refer to our guide here to learn how to teach any Pokemon their egg moves while you host a picnic.

Have Azumarill hold a Mirror Herb, make sure one move slot is empty, and put it in a picnic with any Pokemon listed above who knows Belly Drum. This process will need to be repeated if you want Azumarill to forget Belly Drum at any point, since only egg moves learned at birth can be recalled using the “Remember moves” menu option. Still, this is a very easy process, and there is no limit on how many times you can repeat it.

More Pokemon who learn Belly Drum may appear in the future. For example, Charizard was added to the Scarlet & Violet in the game’s first 7-Star Tera Raid event, and it is capable of learning Belly Drum as an egg move. While there is no TM for Belly Drum, you’ll have plenty of options to give this move to your Pokemon.
