Storming the Iron Hold

Recommended Videos

While most dungeons inĀ Diablo 4 are purposefully farmed for speed, Iron Hold is not one of those dungeons. Speed-farming dungeons are typically reserved for simple layouts and a few quick and easy dungeon objectives. Speed farm dungeons typically include Cultist Refuge or Sirocco Caverns. Iron Hold, however, is farmed for its loot potential. Due to the dungeon location, we felt it important to create an efficient Iron Hold completion guide.

The fastest-speed dungeons don’t have a boss at the end, but Iron Hold does. The boss is probably the easiest optional dungeon boss in the game, thus making this ideal for farming items.

Seeing as the dungeon’s boss (Scourge of the Land) essentially gives away piles of loot, we have created an Iron Hold dungeon location & completion guide for Diablo 4.

Finding the Iron Hold dungeon

Once you’ve explored the Ruins of Rakhat Keep, an area in the middle of Hawezar, you will unlock access to the Iron Hold dungeon. This dungeon is right next to the Ruins of Rakhat Keep: Inner Court waypoint.

Teleport to this waypoint, then head to the northeast area of the ruins. Here you will find the Iron Hold dungeon. If you have trouble finding it, follow the red line on our map above.

Entering the Iron Hold will start your first objective: Slay the Malevolent Spector and collect the Jailer’s Key.

Simply continue forward into the dungeon and you will soon after run into the Malevolent Spector. This enemy is an Elite monster, not a Boss, so you should be able to make quick work of it. Once it’s dead, pick up the Jailer’s Key on the ground and receive your next dungeon objective: Use the Jailer’s Key to open the Locked Door.

You may have passed the Locked Door on your way to finding the Malevolent Spector; it’s normally near the front of the dungeon. Unlocking the door unveils your next objective: Travel to the Halls of Malice.

Continue forth and you will soon enter the Halls of Malice. Right before you reach the area, you will trigger a brief gauntlet-style event in which you have to slay all the enemies that spawn. Once you kill the final enemy, the entrance to the Halls of Malice opens.

Once inside the Halls of Malice, you will be tasked with your next objective: Return the 2 Bloodstones to their pedestals. You will have a corridor stretching from left to right. Head to the far left to find the first Bloodstone being protected by a Warden. The Warden is an Elite mob, so you should take it down with ease.

After defeating the Warden, pick up the Bloodstone then head back towards the middle of the corridor. Here you should find two pedestals next to a locked entrance. Placed the Bloodstone in one of the pedestals then head to the right.

Here you will find the second Bloodstone. Make quick work of the Warden protecting it and pick up the second Bloodstone then head back to the last remaining pedestal in the middle.

Iron Hold dungeon Boss guide: Scourge of the Land

Placing the final Bloodstone will unlock the door and give you your final objective: Defeat the Scourge of the Land.

The Scourge of the Land is a giant horned demon, and technically a boss by Diablo 4 standards. The boss doesn’t deal much damage and is extremely easy to defeat.

He occasionally slams the ground leaving a toxic pool where he hits. Dodge these pools and take down the demons he summons throughout the fight, before focusing your damage back on the boss.

He will periodically breathe fire in a cone in front of him, which is very easy to Evade.

Overall this fight is very easy and his attacks don’t seem to do much damage.

After a short time, you will defeat The Scourge of the Land and therefore complete the Iron Hold dungeon.

Iron Hold dungeon rewards

If this is your first time completing the dungeon, you will receive the 30 Renown completion reward.

You will also obtain the Necromancer Legendary Fastblood Resource Aspect. This Legendary Aspect causes Blood Orbs to reduce your Ultimate Cooldown.

For various Necro blood builds, this Aspect can be very useful.

Because there is an actual Boss enemy at the end of this dungeon, killing it has a good chance to drop you Legendary and Sacred items. This is what makes farming the Iron Hold dungeon so useful.
