Infinite Bits dates are confirmed. Miami’s premiere (and first) large-scale consumer-oriented videogame convention is taking place on October 23 through 25 at the Doubletree Miami Mart Hotel Convention Center. If you want to go and save yourself ten bucks, you can pre-register at the event’s official Web site right now.
If you haven’t had your finger on the convention’s pixilated pulse, I’ll gently walk you through it. Infinite Bits is essentially a playable celebration of videogame history. Headlining the event is the Interactive Video Game Museum, where you can peruse and play tons of ancient systems that have graced the landscape of gaming. If old isn’t your bag, there’s still plenty to do — several of the convention’s areas will have Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 fans blowing. Have you ever played a Vectrex? Here’s your chance!
One of those areas is called The Arena, and it rocks especially hard because we’re sponsoring it. Mad matches of Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter II Turbo Bologna Sandwich HD Remix, Tatsunoku vs. Capcom, and several other fighting games not in the “now” will be offered for your enjoyment. As always we’ll be hosting tournaments and giveaways, so drop on by and try to pry some free stuff from our fists. You can also sit on Mr. Destructoid’s pointy lap and take a photo with our new robot head if you think you have the neck muscle to sustain it.
Tournaments for old, new, and even tabletop games will be offered in addition to video and panel areas. Hell, you can even buy games at Infinite Bits. Make sure to check out the official Web site for more information on the convention. Oh, and tell em’ we sent you!
