The announcement at E3 that Hideo Kojima would be taking over the Castlevania series with the next game, Lords of Shadow, was met with much excitement, but one man was probably not as excited. That would be Koji Igarashi, the man behind the three Castlevania DS games and a participant in the series since 1997. One mediocre Wii game gets made under your watch and you lose the franchise you’ve helped to make one of the most popular in the world? Igarashi can’t be too happy about that.

Of course, I’m sure there were a plethora of other behind the scenes dealings that led to Kojima taking over the series, but fear not fans of Igarashi, he’s still developing and still trucking on with Konami. He could even be working on Lords of Shadow itself. Speaking with Kotaku, company spokesman Jay Boor said, “He is still at Konami, and he is still working on projects.” He then neither confirmed nor denied Igarashi’s involvement in Lords of Shadow. The company did however say that they are hoping to announce Igarashi’s next game at the Tokyo Game Show.

And just to get you a tiny bit more excited, when Boor was asked about a Castlevania DS game coming out this year all he said was, “I can’t say anything.” Totally confirmed.
