While wandering around in Fields of Mistria, you’ve likely noticed the Chicken Statue close to Hayden’s house on Sweetwater Farm. This statue is mysterious and, for the most part, appears to be decorative, but it’s actually really useful.
I can’t tell you the things I tried in order to interact with this Chicken Statue. I love chickens in general, so of course, I was drawn to the statue from day one. It couldn’t be merely decorative, it was too conspicuous! In the end, I discovered its use by accident one day when my chickens got into my crops, ate my Brocolli, and produced some Shiny Beads from an unknown orifice.
How to get Shiny Beads in Fields of Mistria
Before you can get Shiny Beads, you need to unlock the ‘Currency of Care’ perk at Caldarus’ Statue. It’s a level 1 perk and costs 25 Essence.
Shiny Beads are dropped by farm animals in Fields of Mistria after they’ve chowed down on your crops. However, this can prove problematic when you’re trying to line your coffers by growing valuable vegetables, so I’ve got some tips.
Firstly, make sure to fence your animals in. Although there currently aren’t any gates available in Fields of Mistria, we do have the benefit of being able to hop over fences, so you can still get to your animals even if they’re entirely penned in. This will prevent them from free-roaming across your farm and chomping on your high-value produce.
Secondly, inside their dedicated area, give them their own crops to munch on. My advice here is to plant the cheapest type of crop for each season and let them go to town. It doesn’t seem to matter which crops they devour, each animal will only drop two Shiny Beads per day regardless of which crop they eat.
Don’t let Weeds grow in their pen, either. I’ve learned that farm animals will always default to eating mature weeds before they go for the crops. If they eat a weed first, they won’t eat a crop that day and you’ll lose out on Beads.
How to use the Chicken Statue in Fields of Mistria
The Chicken Statue works in a similar manner to the Wishing Well, allowing you to pay in either 10 or 100 Shiny Beads in order to get a reward.
Like with the Wishing Well, what you get out will depend on how much you put in, with 100 Shiny Gems getting you items which are worth more. Each item will be animal related, and could be anything from the following:
- Animal product recipes
- Animal Cosmetics
- Processed animal products such as Cheese or Butter
- Meals made with animal products, such as Omelet or Hard Boiled Eggs
- Animal feed
