If you’re finding your space restricted in Fields of Mistria and running out of places to put things inside your farmhouse, don’t worry. If you can save up the funds and gather up the resources, you’ll soon have a lot of space to decorate.
To begin with, the inside space of your home is only 13 by 8 tiles in size. This is incredibly limiting, especially when you start to craft your own furniture, earn rewards at the Spring Festival, or bring back choice finds from the Mines.
How to upgrade the Farmhouse in Fields of Mistria
Thankfully, there are three different upgrades that can be purchased to expand your space. The first of these will expand the central room to a larger size, while the other two will add a room on each side of the original farmhouse.
Remember to physically take all of the resources required to the Carpenter’s Shop with you when it’s time to perform each upgrade.
First upgrade
If you’re looking to expand, you can do so pretty easily by purchasing the first House Upgrade from the Carpenter’s Shop. This will increase the size of the main room to 17 by 12 tiles. Unfortunately, this initial upgrade isn’t cheap, and you’ll need a hefty sum of both materials and Tesserae.
In total, you’ll need the following resources before you can purchase the first House Upgrade:
- 500 Wood
- 500 Stone
- 5,000 Tesserae
By far, the easiest way to get Stone is by heading into the Mines, and you’ll be happy to know that you can commit mass deforestation across the entirety of Mistria to get the wood. Don’t worry, the trees will be back in their usual spots the very next day, so you’re not doing any lasting damage even if you chop them down on the daily.
Once you’ve got your resources and have purchased the House Upgrade, the Farmhouse will already be bigger when you return to it. You might find you need to rearrange your furniture, so make sure you’ve got enough time to do this when you get back to the farm unless you want to pass out at 2 a.m. While the change to the outside is minimal, it’s really inside where the difference is most noticeable:
Second upgrade
The second farmhouse upgrade in Fields of Mistria can be purchased after the first, and will add a new 13 by 9 tile room to left side of the house, including a new dormer window in the roof on the exterior. As with the first upgrade, getting the second one requires a large amount of resources and Tesserae.
In total, you’ll need the following:
- 500 Wood
- 500 Stone
- 20 Iron Ingots
- 15,000 Tesserae
Despite the cost, it’s a good idea to expand outwards so that you can begin to dedicate different spaces for different uses. For example, having a separate room for interior storage and crafting can be very useful, as it prevents you from being stuck outside in the rain when you want to craft. Alternatively, you could purchase some of the new bathroom inspired items available at Merri’s stall at the Saturday Market.
You’ll need a total of 200 Iron Ore to make the 20 Iron Ingots required as part of this upgrade. Iron Ore can be found in Tide Caverns (floors 21 – 40) within the Mines. Alternatively, you can purchase Iron Ore from the Blacksmith as long as you’ve passed the Water Seal. It costs 70 Tesserae each, or 14,000 Tesserae in total.
Third upgrade
The third upgrade available for your farmhouse will add an equally sized room on the opposite side of the farmhouse, leaving you with a total of 438 tiles to fill with furniture and decorations. Of course, this doesn’t come cheap, although many of the resources needed remain the same:
- 500 Wood
- 500 Stone
- 20 Silver Ingots
- 25,000 Tesserae
To get the 20 Silver Ingots you need to purchase this upgrade, you’ll need a total of 200 Silver Ore, which can be found in Deep Earth (floors 41 – 60) within the Mines. If you’d rather buy the Silver Ore, you can get it from the Blacksmiths as long as you’ve passed the Earth Seal. It costs 100 Tesserae each, so you’ll need to spend 20,000 in total to get all 200 needed for this upgrade.
This is the final upgrade that’s currently available for your farmhouse in Fields of Mistria, although more are likely to be added during future updates. When more are added, this page will be updated accordingly. Until then, enjoy the added space to decorate!
