The newest XIV Deep Dungeon returns to a special locale
Final Fantasy XIV patch 6.35 is live, and with it, a new Deep Dungeon to explore. Eureka Orthos is the newest Deep Dungeon that allows squads of four to dive deep into its depths, where both treasure and danger await. But to unlock Eureka Orthos in Final Fantasy XIV, you’re going to need to spend some time in the other activities first.
Deep Dungeons are special activities that play similarly to regular Final Fantasy XIV, but with a few twists. There’s a separate inventory and levelling system, as you go floor by floor through the area. While it can be challenging, there are also activity-specific rewards, and Eureka Orthos is no different.
Eureka Orthos pre-requisites
First off, you’ll need to have finished Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, the most recent expansion for the MMO as of this writing. You’ll need to be fully up-to-snuff on the MSQ before diving in.
You’ll also need to be familiar with Deep Dungeons, or at the very least, the first one Square Enix put in Final Fantasy XIV. To access Eureka Orthos, you’ll need to clear the Palace of the Dead up through Floor 50. Thankfully, you can match-make your way there easily enough, and it shouldn’t take too long. This will also give you a chance to get acquainted with the particular mechanics and nuances of Deep Dungeons.
How to unlock the Eureka Orthos Deep Dungeon
To start the quest off, you’ll need to talk to Koh Rabntah, a questgiver located near the Mor Dhona Aetheryte. After some story scenes, you’ll soon learn where exactly Eureka Orthos is, and the ties it has to a great deal of previous Final Fantasy XIV content. Even at the outset, it feels like one for the lore appreciators.
After the cutscenes end, you’ll have one last conversation with your newfound patron, and then be able to chat with a few more of the Sons of Saint Coinach to delve into the dungeon.
Remember: you’ll need to be a Disciple of War or Magic at level 81 or higher to access Eureka Orthos. Much like other Deep Dungeons, though, you’ll have your level set to 81 upon entrance, and grow along the specific dungeon track.
Additionally, the game will introduce the demiclone generator. This is a special mechanic, allowing you to summon demiclones using tomestones from within Eureka Orthos.
From there, a whole new world of adventure and danger awaits. Have fun spelunking the depths of Eureka Orthos!
