To the disappointment of many and although a lore-based reason was given, Natlan was the first nation in Genshin Impact not to debut with a new variant of the Traveler. Here’s how you will be able to unlock the long-anticipated Pyro Traveller in Genshin Impact.

How to unlock the Pyro Traveler in Genshin Impact

Unlike all other variants of our valiant protagonist, who could be unlocked by resonating with any statutes of the seven matching their element, the Pyro Traveler can only be unlocked by taking part in the game’s Incandescent Ode of Ressurection Archon Quest (Chapter V: Act V), more specifically by completing its Where All Hopes Lie sub-quest. As usual, you will need to have cleared all Archon quests prior to it to unlock the above. So get to it if you are still playing catch-up.

After completing the quest, you will then be able to fully ascend the Traveler’s abilities by providing offerings to the Throne of the Primordial Fire, which will also be unlocked during the Archon quest. You can check out the official trailer for Genshin Impact‘s upcoming version 5.3 below. The version will debut on December 31, 2024, at 11 PM (UTC).

Pyro Traveler’s Elemental Skill and Burst, Explained

As revealed by miHoYo, The Pyro Traveler’s Elemental Skill, Flowfire Baldewill, will see them deliver a small burst of Pyro DMG before entering their Nighsoul’s Blessing state. The properties of the state will change based on whether the skill is tapped or held, as you can see below:

  • Tapped: The Traveler will summon a Brazing Threshold around the currently active character, which will periodically deal Nightsoul-aligned Pyro DMG in a medium AoE. The Brazing Threshold will look and feel extremely similar to Shinobu’s Grass Ring of Sanctification.
  • Held: A Scorching Threshold will be summoned instead. The former will then send coordinated Nightsoul-aligned Pyro projectiles against targets after each hit made by your on-field character.

Their Elemental Burst (Plains Scorcher), on the other hand, will allow the Traveler to deal a large amount of Pyro DMG ahead before restoring a set amount of Nightsoul points. You can check out the first official glimpses at the Traveler’s Pyro Elemental Skill and Burst animations by heading to their introdutory post on HoYoLAB.

While you wait for the debut of the Pyro Traveler, don’t forget to also check out the location of all Pyroculus in Genshin Impact.
