How to unlock Gunbreaker and Dancer in Final Fantasy XIV

Superbolide or Tech Step, you pick, or do both

If you’re looking for some new Jobs to play or a new challenge in Final Fantasy XIV, there are two jobs that unlock once you reach Shadowbringers territory — Gunbreaker and Dancer. These are two of my favorite classes, but how do you unlock them?

In order to unlock Gunbreaker and Dancer, you’ll need to meet some requirements:

  • Must have purchased a copy of Shadowbringers and have it registered to your account
  • Must have reached at least level 60 in any other Disciple of War or Magic Job

If you meet both of these requirements, you can now step forward and take up your new, shiny weapons. Thankfully, both of these Jobs unlock in starting cities, so you won’t have to venture far to find them.

To unlock Gunbreaker, head to New Gridania and find Gods’ Quiver Bow (X:11.5, Y:11.9). Speaking to them will provide you with the quest “The Makings of a Gunbreaker”, which will unlock the Gunbreaker Job to play when completed.

The quest itself isn’t too difficult to complete, though there is a small battle in the middle of it that you will have to win in order to proceed. That’s the hardest part, though, and there isn’t much else standing between you and your future Gunblade.

To unlock Dancer, make your way to Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks and search out the Eager Lominsan there (X:9.8, Y:12.0). Pick up the quest called “Shall We Dance”, and you’re already on the journey to Technical Step and Dance Partner.

There’s nothing too taxing in this quest; you simply have to watch a show of Dancers performing a dance number. After watching the show, talk to Nashmeira, accept her offer, and collect your new gear and Soul Stone. Having done that, you’re now free to set off on some new rhythmic adventures.
