How to unlock Futures Rewritten Ultimate in Final Fantasy XIV

Do it for the weapons, and the experience

With patch 7.11 arriving in Final Fantasy XIV, players can now dive into Dawntrail’s long-awaited Futures Rewritten Ultimate Raid (FRU). This raid features familiar faces from the Eden Raid series that featured during Shadowbringers, on a whole new difficulty scale.

Futures Rewritten Ultimate is the sixth Ultimate raid to be added to Final Fantasy XIV, with the others being as follows:

  • The Unending Coil of Bahamut (UCoB) (Stormblood)
  • The Weapon’s Refrain (UWU) (Stormblood)
  • The Epic of Alexander (TEA) (Shadowbringers)
  • Dragonsong’s Reprise (DSR or DSU) (Endwalker)
  • The Omega Protocol (TOP) (Endwalker)

With beefed-up mechanics and some absolutely stunning weapons to work towards, there’s a whole slew of reasons to take in any of the Ultimate raids. However, this task is not for the weak-hearted and there are some pretty stringent unlock requirements as well.

If you want to dive into the latest Ultimate Raid, you’ll first need to complete AAC Light-heavyweight M4 Savage (M4S) from the Arcadion series. This in turn requires you to complete the normal difficulty AAC Light-heavyweight M4. You essentially need to complete the first four normal raids, which unlock sequentially, and then all four Savage raids, which also unlock one after the other.

Of course, if you’re getting to grips with Futures Rewritten Ultimate, you’ve likely ticked off both of these tasks already. In that case, to unlock the raid itself you’ll need to head to Tuliyollal and find the Wandering Minstrel close to the For-ard Cabins Aethernet Crystal (X:11.1 Y:14.6)

Party make-up for Future Rewritten Ultimate

Futures Rewritten Ultimate is an eight-player, level 100 raid. If you want to take part, you’ll need the current “best in slot” gear, which is iLvl 730 – 735 Dark Horse Champion sets or Augmented Quetzali sets. In the future, when higher iLvl gear is released, anything more recent than these sets will be sufficient.

Futures Rewritten Ultimate can only be accessed via the Raid Finder and entered by a pre-made party of eight players. While you can have two different players on duty on the same Job, this isn’t advised, as it will cancel out the passive generation of Limit Break.

Upon successful completion of Futures Rewritten Ultimate, all players will be rewarded with an Oracle Totem. These can then be taken to Uah’shepya in Solution Nine (X:8.7, Y:13.5) and exchanged for the rather glorious iLvl 735 Ultimate Edenmorn Weapons. Each weapon can be obtained in exchange for one Oracle Totem.

Currently, players can only obtain one Oracle Totem per week, with a new totem becoming available after the weekly reset each Tuesday. This restriction will only be in place until patch 7.2. A totem will be given to each player completing the duty for the first time each week, regardless of whether others in the party have already obtained their weekly reward.
