How to unlock the FFXIV Pictomancer Job in Dawntrail

The Joy of Pictomancy

Of all of the things coming to Final Fantasy XIV with the release of Dawntrail, you could argue that none are more exciting than the two brand new Jobs. Pictomancer is the more creative, magic-based Job, and if you want to start wielding the brush, I can help.

If you love the sound of picking up a paintbrush and conjuring paintings into life, or transforming the very world around you in order to take down enemies, then Pictomancer is definitely the Job for you.

Where does the Pictomancer Job quest start in Final Fantasy XIV?

To unlock Pictomancer, head to Old Gridania and talk to the Chearless Hearer (X:8.0 Y:10.3) to pick up the quest called ‘The Joy of Pictomancy’.

Before you can unlock Pictomancer and get creative, you’ll need to have completed the following things:

  • Reach level 80 in at least one Disciple of War or Magic Job
  • Own a copy of Dawntrail and have it registered to your account

Once you’ve done this, you’ll need to complete the following steps:

  •  Go to the main Aetheryte Plaza and survey the area (X:11.1, Y:11.3) for the Meddlesome Moogle
  •  After a cutscene, talk to Kupopo outside the Carline Canopy (X:12.3, Y:13.1) and attend his interview
  • Talk to Kupopo again to complete the quest and accept your new Job as Pictomancer

When this is done, you’ll be rewarded with your starting gear and weapon, free to set out into Eorzea and paint things to death.
