Allied Societies in Final Fantasy XIV, previously known as Beast Tribes and then simply Tribes, are a good way to level up your characters jobs, gain access to unique rewards, and delve into additional lore of an area.
Each Allied Society comes with its own story line and side quests, which provide EXP, reputation and Society currencies. These can then be spent to get unique rewards or crafting materials. Reaching a high level of Reputation in with each Society also offers a title to display your allegiance, which you usually get once you’ve reached maximum rank with the Society.
There are three different types of Allied Societies:
- Battle
- Crafting
- Gathering
You’ll need to complete each Allied Society quest as the correct type of Job.
How to unlock all Allied Societies in Final Fantasy XIV
A Realm Reborn Allied Societies
There are a total of five Allied Societies looking for your help in A Realm Reborn. Most of them have only three reputation increases, with the exception of the Ixali who have seven.
To unlock all of the A Realm Reborn Allied Societies, you’ll first need to complete the level 41 MSQ quest ‘In Pursuit of the Past’, then you’ll need to complete the following quests:

Heavensward Allied Societies
Heavensward brought three new Allied Societies into the mix, all of which are located in areas added with the expansion. Whereas those added in A Realm Reborn could all be unlocked after the same MSQ quest, those in Heavensward require a different MSQ quest to unlock each.

Three more Allied Societies joined the list in Stormblood, all of which take you to different areas added in the expansion itself. These, too, have different MSQ quests required to unlock them.

As is standard by this point, Shadowbringers added three new Allied Societies in areas from the expansion. You’ll need to work your way halfway through Shadowbringers in order to unlock them all.
