Since the release of Final Fantasy XVI‘s first DLC, Echoes of the Fallen, players have been flocking back to Valisthea to see what kind of hijinks Clive and his merry band are getting into. Turns out that the crew finally added a wardrobe to their secret base and transmog is on the menu.
I’m all for customizing my characters, as no matter how cool a design might be, after several dozen hours I start craving something different. If you’re like me, then the 1.10 update was a welcome addition as it added transmog for both select party members’ outfits and Clive’s weapon. Here’s how to perform a makeover.
When can you transmog in Final Fantasy 16?
To unlock transmog in Final Fantasy XVI, players will need to unlock the Hideaway and its Arete Stone. Once at the Arete Stone, select the “Appearance” option to get to customizing. Note that any changes to Clive’s weapon don’t impact the stats.
This happens fairly early on in the game, so don’t fret if you’re just starting out. Instead, bask in the various leathers that Clive rocks. Note that transmog isn’t available in NG+ until the same story point is reached, and certain cutscenes will use the default look to maintain loading speed.
At the time of this writing, there are only five characters that can make use of the transmog system: Clive, Jill, Joshua, Torgal, and Ambrosia. For each of these characters, there are only two options (default and an alternate), which is unfortunate.
I’m sure once Final Fantasy XVI comes to PC, modders will add all sorts of options, but until then, we’re stuck with what Square Enix gives us.
