The realistic gameplay of 2K’s basketball video game allows you to recreate many moments that are usually seen in real-life contests. There are several ways to dunk the ball in the basket, and alley-oops aren’t the most straightforward of them all. Yet, you can perform them across any game mode by pressing the right buttons with precision timing.

How many Alley-oop throws are available in NBA 2K24?

There are three different types of throws you can choose from. All three of them are unique from each other and can be utilized at unique moments.

How to do Alley-oops in NBA 2K24?

Let’s take a look at control schemes for all three types.

  • Alley-oop with a teammate: Double tap the Y/Triangle button while controlling the receiver with the LS on your Xbox/PS controller.
  • Solo: Double tap the Y/Triangle button, and move your player towards the hoop.
  • Bounce Pass: Press the A+B/X+O buttons and move towards the receiver.

No matter which method you use, scoring them will always be the same. Once you have made the pass to the receiver/self and the ball is in the air, the dunk meter will appear. On the meter, there will be a white line. Press the Shoot button (X/Square on Xbox/PS) as close to this white line as possible.

If you want to increase your chances of scoring a basket, try using elite dunkers in NBA 2K24. Good Centers like Nikola Jokic are perfect for scoring from Alley-oops. Also, don’t be discouraged if you fail to score at first, but also make sure that you don’t end up overdoing this method. If you’re in an online match, network issues can also prevent you from getting good timing on the dunk.
