It’s a really simple process, it just takes time
When I started playingĀ Diablo 4, I was taken aback by the progression system. It’s a lot of separated menus that weave into each other, and it’s not obvious how everything actually links up. With that in mind, here’s the easiest way to acquire the Golem spell in Diablo 4.
Step 1: Hit level 25 with a Necromancer
To earn the right to summon a Golem (a singular summon entity that’s far more durable than the skeletons you’ve had up until this point), you’ll need to hit level 25 with a Necromancer character.
The game will allude to the level 25 quest if you look at your Book of the Dead (summon) inventory tab, but once you actually hit 25, it’ll automatically go into your quest log.
Step 2: Complete the level 25 quest “Necromancer: Call of the Underworld”
When you do hit level 25, I recommend just high-tailing it to the Necromancer quest. It only takes around 10 minutes (or less) to complete and provides an instantaneous buff to your kit. You’ll find it northwest of Kyovashad, the core Act 1 region (the precise location can be found on the map above).
The first part of this quest involves interacting with an outdoor altar (the Shrine of Rathma, the first great Necromancer), then collecting 12 enemy parts (unbroken bones, which have a decent drop rate). Make a loop from left to right in the immediate area near the altar: enemies will respawn through the ground as you run through the area. Just farm them for unbroken bones and pick up the second portion of the quest.
Next, you’ll need to head southwest into the Bitter Cave (pictured). Go down the one-lane hall until you hit the Jar of Souls, and interact with it to kick off a short (very easy) arena fight.
Take out the myriad Vengeful Spirits and the elite at the end (we recommend heavy AOE spells, as they’ll take down the lesser minions quickly), and you’ll unlock the Golem spell! You’ll pick it up instantly after the quest pops.
Step 3: Equip the Golem spell to your hotbar
In order to actually “summon” the Golem, you’ll need to equip it to your hotbar: just like you would with Army of the Dead. Open up the skill menu, then “assign” the skill to your bar.
You’re done! Enjoy your new pet.
