It’s the day J. Jonah Jameson always warned us was coming: Spider-Man is a criminal! A thief! It’s true. He has the means and way to steal a bike in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. And since we here at Destructoid just love being accessories to something, we’ll show you how.
The ridable bike was found by a Reddit user recently. User baamp_ happened to stumble on a familiar-looking red bike in a back alley before riding it to freedom. If you’re bored of moving around the city freely using web lines, then fret no more.
You can find the bike located in Peter Parker’s old turf of Astoria. Head to the map location below and check in a parking area/alleyway nestled between a set of buildings. If you see graffiti that reads “Shine” on the wall of a gray building, you’re pretty much there.
Make your way down to the red bike. Hit the triangle button, and you should climb on. If you hear a jingle as you press the button, you did it right. Tap the X button to speed up while riding. To get off, you need to come to a complete stop and press the triangle button again. Both Spider-Men are able to ride the bike, so don’t worry about having to swap characters.
Do you steal the bike in Spider-Man 2, or take it back?
To be frank, you don’t exactly steal the bike in Spider-Man 2. If you’re looking closely, you can tell right away that it’s identical to Peter’s bike. It shows up in the story mission ‘Roll Like We Use To’, which featured Peter and Harry Osborn chilling on bikes before visiting their old high school.
The bike you can find is red with stickers, just like Peter’s. It appears again in the ‘Photo Help’ FNSM App side mission, where Pete reminisces about the first time he sold a picture of Spider-Man to JJJ. The bike is south of Peter’s school and near Aunt May’s house, so it’s probably less stealing and more bringing it home.
Well, if you could. The bike does abruptly despawn after you get a block or two down the street. So, it’s really more of an Easter egg than anything substantial. Still, it’s a fun one and worth seeking out if you’re in Pete’s neighborhood.
