How to sheathe your sword in Ghost of Tsushima

Running around with that sword all the time would turn his arm into Jello.

While Ghost of Tsushima revels in the slicing and dicing of your foes with your sword, there’s plenty of downtime as well. Whether it be taking a bath in a hot spring, completing a platforming section as you ascend a mountain, or simply riding throughout Tsushima Island with your horse, there are more than enough places where your sword can stay sheathed.

At least it can, provided you know how to. Here’s how to sheathe your sword in Ghost of Tsushima.

If you’re using a DualSense controller, you can sheathe your sword by swiping right on the DualSense pad. This can also be done on an Xbox controller by holding right on the D-Pad and right on the right analog stick. As for mouse and keyboard, you merely have to press the 5 key.

Doing this again will unsheathe your sword should you want to prepare for battle. If you’re unhappy with the sheath you’re putting your sword into, you can earn sheath skins as you play and select them from the Gear menu.

It’s worth noting that there are no benefits to sheathing or unsheathing your sword. Enemies and allies won’t attack or get scared if Jin runs around with his sword out. This is merely a way to keep in character, and avoid awkward moments such as standing near an NPC and chatting with them while holding your sword. If you want some of the silliness of that, then you do you, but the option is available.
