In NBA 2K25, calling a screen will allow you to make your offense a lot more dynamic.
The road to a basket might not always be open, and it gets even more difficult when you’re playing against other human opponents. Using a fellow teammate as a screen will help you uncover space on the court that would otherwise have remained blocked. While the core process of calling a screen is pretty much the same, it’s worth mastering the basics before you jump into early access.
How to call a screen in NBA 2K25
Calling a screen can be done in two different ways. The easier process is to call a random screen. In that case, the AI will automatically assign a suitable candidate to the screen. A more advanced process involves using a specific player as the screen – preferably your C/PF – as they can utilize their bigger build to create more space.
Let’s take a look at how you can set a screen with any random player.
- When the ball is with your ball handler, hold the L1/LB button on your PlayStation/Xbox controller. This will automatically make a player position himself on the screen.
- You can use the LS to make him switch positions if he’s standing on the wrong side.
- Press the R1/RB button to open up options for the screen.
As I said, this process is pretty easy, but it’s not very efficient. Moreover, the AI can sometimes position the wrong player on the screen, which can even cause a turnover at worst. You can avoid all those problems by deciding which specific athlete you want on the screen.
- Press the L1/LB button once when the ball is with your ball handler.
- Four different buttons will appear on top of your remaining players.
- Press the icon that corresponds with the player you want to set as a screen. If your Center isn’t available, the Power Forward (PF) is a good alternative.
You can also create a dummy with the screen. As the screen is setting itself up, press the L1/LB button once more. This screen cancel will automatically generate a false movement which can confuse even the very best players in NBA 2K25.
