How to reveal Tech Crates and Spider-Bots in Spider-Man 2 mini-map

Chase them to the ends of the Earth.

It may come as a surprise, but there is a way to reveal the elusive Tech Crates and Spider-Bots scattered throughout the world of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on its mini-map. You need a specific upgrade found deep in the tech tree.

Through its campaign, Spider-Man 2 introduces you to its many collectibles you can seek as side activities. Whether they include Photo Ops or Dev Diaries, there’s plenty to hunt. They appear on the overworld map with their respective icons. Marko’s Memories are represented by orange crystals, for example.

But what about those 42 freakin’ Spider-Bots? Or the countless Tech Crates? No dice, I’m afraid. There is a way to see them on the mini-map, but you must earn the privilege.

Reveal Spider-Bots on Spider-Man 2 mini-map after a Suit Tech upgrade

You need to unlock the ‘All Seeing’ upgrade in the Spider-Man 2 Suit Tech menu to reveal the Spider-Bots on the game’s mini-map. Once you do, the crates show as small boxes (yellow ones for Rare Tech Parts) and the Spider-Bots appear as small, purple spider icons. Granted, both Tech Crates and Spider-Bots are visible in the world. Crates are either blue or yellow and are paired with an audio alert and a bright blue or yellow glow. The Bots, on the other hand, broadcast purple spheres that pulsate loudly. So, it may not be critical, but the upgrade helps if you need more assistance. Keep in mind that this only works for the mini-map, not the primary map.

Getting the upgrade takes time, however. All Seeing is in the Suit Tech menu under the ‘Traversal’ tech tree as the sixth upgrade in the list. You can focus your upgrade materials on getting it, or just wait until it comes by more naturally; I had it upgraded at level 43. The upgrade makes no mention of the Spider-Bots, but it definitely reveals them as well.

It takes 225 Tech Parts and six Hero Tokens to unlock. The upgrade is paired with ‘Active Spider’, which most of you may find more useful. It improves the Spider-Jump and Spider-Dash abilities significantly.

But the upgrade may be worth it for you completionists. The Tech Parts and Rare Tech Parts are used to upgrade gadgets and purchase new suites. Spider-Bots are also part of a side story quest that has strong nods to the broader Spider-Verse. They may be worth the extra work just for the juicy lore. Either way, if you’re having issues hunting down bots or parts, the upgrade may be worth the effort.
