How to research Augments in Black Ops 6 Zombies

Augments in Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies can be a fantastic way to clear hordes of undead in quick time, but there’s much to be desired when it comes to understanding the mechanic in the first place.

Unlike other items like Perks and Ammo mods, upgrades provided by Augments are permanent, and they, in turn, boost the effectiveness of other consumables available in Zombies. Let’s find out how you can research and upgrade your Augments and make them better over time.

Once you select the map, you can check out all the available Augments from the Research tab. Augments are of three types – Perk-a-Colas, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades. Each of these items has three minor Augments and three major. Go to the Research tab and select the one you want to upgrade.

Once the research is active, just play the game in Zombies mode. You can gain the required XP by completing different activities. Surviving multiple rounds and taking down elite enemies will help, and make sure to attempt S.A.M. Trials when possible. S.A.M. Trials are extremely helpful to gain a lot of XP quickly, but they can be difficult unless you put in a coordinated effort along with your team.

While it’s not necessary to use the Augment that you’re researching, doing so will help you finish your research quicker. Additionally, you can only research an Augment that has already been unlocked. At first, most of the options will remain locked till you level up. As you gain more player levels, more options will open across all three types.

While completing research takes a certain amount of time and effort, it will help you survive those late waves when you come across dangers like Manglers and Amalgams. If you’re not sure about your abilities and loadout, it always helps to exfil early and save a heartache. Doing so after Round 15 or later will also guarantee you Whimsical GobbleGums, and activating them can be quite comic, to say the least.
