How to play multiplayer in Planet Coaster 2

Want to destroy your friend's theme park? Now you can.

Whatā€™s even more fun than building up the ultimate theme park or water park? Doing it with your friends, of course. Planet Coaster 2, the follow-up to the original game released all the way back in 2016, came with plenty of new features to enjoy, one of which is multiplayer.

But how does multiplayer work in the latest theme park simulator? How do you play with others? If you want to learn how to dive into Planet Coaster 2 with your friends, weā€™re here to show you how.

Is Planter Coaster 2 multiplayer?

Yes, Planet Coaster 2 does have a multiplayer mode where you can work with your friends, co-op style, to build a theme park. However, the catch is that you cannot work on the park together at the same time.

Instead, you can share your park with friends, taking turns working on it at separate times. Sadly, this is not a very traditional co-op experience, but itā€™s better than nothing.

How to play multiplayer in Planet Coaster 2 in Franchise Mode

Franchise Mode is where you can set up multiplayer in Planet Coaster 2, available in the main menu. From here, you can change a few settings, like making the park invite-only. The park, or franchise as it will be called, will have a Franchise Code that you can share with anyone you want to build the park with.

Using this code, you can invite other players to your game or use a code given to you to join theirs. As stated, you canā€™t work in the park simultaneously as someone else, but you can leave notes and suggestions when building so that your friends know what you want the park to be like. Whether your invitees choose to follow these notes is up to them, though. When you come back to your park, these changes made by others will be saved, and you can explore them yourself.

Franchise Mode also lets you compete on leaderboards to become the best theme park or water park in the world, with various ways to get on top. This mode also includes a special feature that lets you visit other parks from a first-person point of view to check out what other players are doing right (or wrong).

While itā€™s not an active co-op multiplayer experience, Franchise Mode is a step toward letting Planet Coaster 2 fans play together in earnest.
