Baldur's Gate 3 Selunite Prayer Sheet

How to open the Selune Gilded Chest at Owlbear Nest in Baldur’s Gate 3

Early in Act 1 ofĀ Baldur’s Gate 3, not long after the prologue, you will encounter the Druid Grove. There’s a lot to do here including your first big choice in regards to which faction to side with. If you exit the Druid Grove and head west you will come across a cave that leads to an Owlbear Nest. Inside you will find a blue Selune Gilded Chest, sealed with the magic of Selune. As you may have imagined, attempting to open the chest without deactivating the seal on it will cause you to take a ton of damage, which you obviously don’t want.

Where is the Selune Gilded Chest in Owlbear Nest?

Once you’ve entered the Owlbear Nest, you have two paths you can take. The first heads down to an Owlbear Cub and its full-grown Owlbear mama. The mother is very protective and will attack you if you head too far into the cave. This enemy is no easy task, and while you have the option of killing it, there’s no specific reason to do so.

If you instead take the other path you will come to a Cragged Rock that you can interact with. Interacting with the Cragged Rock will cause you to climb down into a little alcove in the cave with a Selune Statue and the Selune Gilded Chest.

In order to safely open the Selune Gilded Chest, you need the Selunite Prayer Sheet. You can acquire this item by jumping across the crevice and landing next to the statue. Choose one of your characters and select the Jump action, then make sure to pick the safe spot next to the statue. Once you’ve jumped across, you will find a little hidden area behind the statue.

In this area, there is an item laying on the ground called the Selunite Prayer Sheet. Pick it up, as it is what you need to safely break the seal and open the chest.

Using the Selunite Prayer Sheet to open the Selune Gilded Chest

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you care about your relationship with Shadowheart, you want to pay attention to this part. Choosing to use the Selunite Prayer Sheet to open the Selune Gilded Chest will upset Shadowheart. Therefore, you want to put Shadowheart in her own party and have her leave the Owlbear Cave completely. Doing so will make her unaware of what you are about to do, so her relationship with you will not be affected.

Once Shadowheart is out of the cave, you want to give the Selunite Prayer Sheet to whoever in your party has the highest Religion. For me, it was my custom character. However, it may be different for you depending on how you built your character.

Next, go stand next to the blue sealed Selune Gilded Chest with that character. Then, open their inventory and right-click on the Selunite Prayer Sheet, and read it. This will cause the seal to fall and you can now loot the chest without the fear of taking damage!

If Shadowheart was not nearby, she will not be upset with you. If she was, she will voice her discomfort and your relationship with her will be affected.
