How to manage fatigue in Madden NFL 25

Can become a nuisance if left unchecked

In Madden NFL 25, fatigue can be a “squad killer” in the rhetorical sense, if you can’t manage to manage your players’ physical workloads.

Like in real life, your athletes are not immortal gods who can perform at the same physical levels throughout an entire game. Their energy levels will naturally drop based on the minutes they spend on the field. In one-off exhibition matches, it might not matter a lot. In the Franchise mode, the matter is entirely different. So, let’s look at all the tools you have on your hands to help your team manage their fatigue.

How to reduce fatigue in Madden NFL 25

Unless you have disabled game fatigue, there’s no magical way to make it disappear. You’ll have to adopt similar strategies that teams use in real life. In a standalone game, you can make timely subs or rely on the AI-controlled auto subs to replace the starters with bench options.

The real challenge is managing your team in Franchise mode. The only way to properly manage the situation is to rotate your starters. No matter how good they are, you’ll need to sit them out on a few games. I prefer to do this against relatively weaker opposition at home. It’s a risk that’s worth it in the long run.

You’ll also need to make regular subs during a game. If you just bank on your starters, they’ll get tired and, in some cases, injured. Hence, make sure to build squad depth. Instead of banking on a selected pool of superstars, have some excellent rotation pieces. They’ll help you get your starters the much-deserved rest.

Now, if this is all too much, you can minimize or remove the impact of fatigue altogether.

There are different solutions if you just want a good time and do away with fatigue.

  • Go for the Competitive Game Style. While games will continue to be competitive, there will be no emphasis on fatigue or automated injuries.
  • Go to League Settings and disable Progressive Fatigue. This can be extremely problematic if your squad depth is mediocre.
  • Go to Gameplay Sliders and reduce the value of Fatigue from the default sliders. You can bring it all the way down to 0 or minimize it slightly to make things easier to manage.

Ultimately, enjoying a realistic experience doesn’t top having fun. If you’re finding the fatigue factor becoming too much, feel free to make the tweaks in Madden NFL 25.
