You need to create a brewery, and to do this, you need to create an extension on a level 2 burgage.

If you donā€™t know how to create an extension, this guide will explain the whole process. Briefly, you need to create a burgage plot with a big enough backyard to allow an extension. Youā€™ll then need to upgrade the burgage to level 2. Finally, you can create the brewery extension. Note that this will lock the family into the artisan profession, and theyā€™ll be unavailable for general labor.

Once you have the brewery, you need malt to make ale. Malt is made from barley, which is grown in a field. Once you have the barley, youā€™ll need to build and staff a malthouse to create the malt. Malt will then be taken to the brewery to create ale, and then it will be transferred to the tavern.

A steady supply of ale can be difficult to achieve. The way that Manor Lords is now, you need to grow a lot of barley in order to create malt. Because of this, you may want to use a trading post to either bring more barley or malt into your settlement, thus keeping your supply chain stocked and the ale flowing.
