Once you reach level one of the electrical skill, you can begin crafting makeshift radios, which will give you more XP than disassembling various electronics you find. You will need the Guerilla Radio recipe magazine for this, which you can typically find inside news vans.Ā

If you want a head start, you can choose either the electrician or engineer career when creating your character. This will start you with at least one bonus skill level. However, you canā€™t alter this if youā€™ve already started a game.

What to use the electrical skill for in Project Zomboid

The main use for the electrical skill is using it to hotwire cars and other vehicles. This lets you pick up most cars on the road without having to find the key. You only need to be at level one in the skill to do this, but the higher your electrical skill level, the less likely youā€™ll be to set off the car alarm.

At level three, you can also carry large machines with you, such as fridges, stoves, washers, and dryers. These are very nice to have later in the game inside your established base. Make sure you’re at one of the best base locations in the game.

Youā€™ll also be able to fix generators better. Overall, itā€™s a useful skill worth putting at least a few levels into, even though they take a while.
