How to level up Trust in Zenless Zone Zero

In Zenless Zone Zero, gaining Trust with the characters you have and those frequently around offers up some pretty sweet benefits you won’t want to miss. If you’re interested in gaining the trust of fellow Agents, then here’s how to improve those relationships in ZZZ.

How to increase Trust in Zenless Zone Zero

To increase the Trust for your characters, then you need to complete Trust Events. These events occur randomly while wandering around Zenless Zone Zero’s various locations. Most happen at random. You could be running by the video store, and Nicole could be standing outside, pondering what type of video she should get before going in. This is just an example, of course, but the events are all similar in scope.

If you’re running by a character and it’s a Trust Event scenario, a notice pops up on your screen alerting you. Participating in these events increases Trust with that character. Make sure you respond to what they say carefully because your responses affect how much Trust you earn. Generally speaking, always respond in favor of what they’re saying or requesting. If Nekomata wants to watch you shop, then buy something for maximum gains.

How to force Trust Events to appear

While most Trust Events are random, you can force up to three to appear per day via DMs on your in-game phone. To do this, open the DM menu and at the top left, click on the icon that looks like a phone.

You have a list of Agents you can directly contact by hitting the Send option when they’re selected. This initiates a conversation with that character and ends by selecting a time and place to meet. Your Schedule will also be updated with this information, allowing you to easily navigate to where the character is waiting.

Once you’ve forced a Trust Event to appear, do not ignore it. Zenless Zone Zero makes use of time much more than most games, and if you stand someone up, they will confront you about it. You could potentially lose Trust in that character by doing this repeatedly.

If there is a character you want to gain Trust with that is not in your contact list, then find them in the overworld and talk to them, or progress the main storyline.

What does Trust reward in Zenless Zone Zero?

Gaining Trust with characters in Zenless Zone Zero rewards you with a number of useful perks and some cosmetic options. Earning enough Trust from a character will reward you with Polychrome for more pulls, along with resources related to the character’s typing. A character with high Trust in you will also be willing to be a Promoter for your video store, which rewards you with resources related to their typing every single day.

A character with high Trust in you will also much more often appear in the Overworld for you to talk to. Often this means they’ll give you random resources, or more opportunities to increase Trust with them. As you increase Trust in a character, you’ll unlock additional rewards such as the ability to earn character-specific Resonium in Hollow Zero.

At maximum Trust level, you’ll unlock the ability to change the background screen of your menu to that character. By default, you only have access to Belle’s and Wise’s backgrounds, but characters you max Trust with will open up the option to use theirs as well.

While Trust is not a mandatory system to progress the story in Zenless Zone Zero, it does help with overall account progression. While the amount of rewards may seem small and insignificant, over time, they will amount to a large amount of freebies, making the process of gaining Trust worthwhile in the long run, especially since you only need to do it once.
