Tips for fighting an Ogre

The Ogre is an extremely powerful and agile creature, somewhat similar to a Cyclops. If you are a male Arisen, I would only bring a female Pawn if it is a Fighter or another tanky vocation as it will be the target of the Ogre for most of the fight. On the flip side, if your Arisen is female, I’d definitely recommend bringing some others or else you will be the target of the Ogre for most of the fight.

You want to focus on the Ogre’s head, more specifically the spot between his eyes on the front of his face. That is his weak spot and where you will do the most damage. Depending on your level and the Pawns with you, you may also want to try to Poison or Sleep the Ogre, as he is vulnerable to both types of damage.

Magic-wise, you can actually freeze specific parts of the Ogre with focused Ice damage, so I definitely recommend using it. You can also catch him ablaze using Fire. The only magic damage he is resistant to is Lighting damage, so I’d avoid using it.

Once you’ve inflicted enough damage onto the Ogre causing him to stagger and fall, you want to start blasting damage right to his face. You can actually do so me insane damage in the brief time he is laying on the ground, so be sure to make use of it.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Ogre Cheatsheet

Here is a little cheatsheet to highlight all the important information when fighting an Ogre in Dragon’s Dogma 2:

  • Vulnerable to: Curses, Ice damage, Fire damage, Poisoning, and Sleep. Takes bonus damage while sleeping.
  • Weak Spot: Head. Takes the most damage in the front of the face, between the eyes.
  • Immune to: Blindness, Petrification, Lightning damage
  • Personality: Ogres get excited in the presence of female characters, and will giggle and get an attack speed and movement speed buff when they see one.
  • Additional Notes: If there is a cliff-face or some other nearby structure, the Ogre will sometimes jump high up onto it and hang on, looking down at you. This gives him a respite from the battle, but also allows him to lunge off and deal some massive dropkick damage below, so be quick to move out of the way.
