Pokémon Go showdowns have taken on various forms, from Shadow to Mega Raids. Now, trainers can experience a brand-new challenge with Max Battles, featuring powerful Dynamax types. We’ll show you how to join and win Max Battles in Pokémon Go, earning you more rewards for your journey.
How to start a Max Battle in Pokémon Go
To start a Max Battle in Pokémon Go, earn enough Max Particles and exchange them at a Power Spot on the map. Look around your area to spot the illuminating particles with a purple ring. Each location requires a specific amount of Max Particles to enter, which varies depending on the Pokémon’s power level.
Once you’ve located a suitable Power Spot, tap ‘Battle’ to join the lobby. An additional four trainers will hop in to help out with the formidable challenge. While you wait, carefully select the three Pokémon for the showdown, considering their types and moves. Bear in mind that Dynamax Pokémon are only allowed in Max Battles, so standard types won’t do. You’ll earn them from the Max Out season’s Special Research tasks and after collecting 1,000 Max Particles.
How to win a Max Battle in Pokémon Go
Upon starting a Pokémon Go Max Battle, you’ll see similar features from the game’s standard Raids, providing a start time for the event’s duration. Use Fast and Charged Attacks to get through the fight quickly. Additionally, if you see a significant number of Pokémon at the Power Spot, your party gains an Attack Boost to deal more damage.
Fill up your Max meter to unlock the creatures’ Dynamax Form during the battle. Strike the Power Spot boss to increase the meter, giving you an advantage for three turns. Energy particles can also be collected on the battlefield to boost it further.
Those who are unsuccessful in the match can try again the next time. Fortunately, your Max Particles count remains intact, as they are only spent after a win. You’ll just have to ensure you complete the battle before the Power Spot disappears.
After you’ve dominated the Max Battle, collect rewards like Dynamax Pokémon encounters, Golden Razz Berries, and Rare Candy. Remember to place your Pokémon at the Power Spot for additional valuables, providing Candy while it’s active. You may even uncover a Dynamax type if there’s a Gigantamax at the spot.
