Take a closer look.

Do you like your camo and want to take a closer look at your gun? Then you need to know how to inspect your weapon, and I know exactly how you can do it.

It’s crazy to think that inspecting a weapon wasn’t a thing in Call of Duty for a long, long time. In fact, it wasn’t until summer 2020 that we were first able to take a closer look at our guns when it was added to Warzone and 2019’s Modern Warfare.

Now, I hardly go a game without doing it, which probably isn’t the best habit to be in. Still, if you want to give it a go, here’s how you can do it.

How to inspect weapons in MW3 using controller

If you’re using a controller, you can hold left on your D-Pad to start the weapon inspection animation.

This works on any controller and platform, so don’t worry if you’re on PC, Xbox, or PlayStation, as they all work the same.

How to inspect weapons in MW3 using keyboard

You can inspect your weapons in MW3 by pressing I on your keyboard. This will then start the animation.

How to cancel weapon inspection animation in MW3

To cancel the animation, simply switch weapons, aim down the sight, or fire the gun in your hand. Your character will immediately stop looking at the weapon, and you can get back into the action.

This is very useful, as I often hit the animation while running around without even thinking about it. Being able to cancel it by using the ADS function means I can get straight into a gunfight without being at a disadvantage.

Why doesn’t weapon inspection work in MW3 campaign?

Weapon inspection doesn’t actually work in MW3‘s campaign, as the animation is not present. So, no matter how many times you hit the input, nothing will happen.
