How to help the man trapped in the rock in Black Myth: Wukong – Man In Stone

While exploring Squall Hideout near Fright Cliff in Black Myth Wukong, you may come across a man trapped in stone. You can help him out, but be careful, because he is a tricky little devil.

How to help the man trapped in the rock in Black Myth: Wukong

You can find the man trapped in stone in a ravine just at the foot of the scaffolding on the right side of the Fright Cliff area, near the Squall Hideout. Drop down and talk to him, but beware, as the drop can take quite a bit of health.

After you speak to him, he will tell you that he has been imprisoned in the terrible rock and that all around him are cursed stone monsters. He is not wrong about that last bit, so be careful as you explore the area. To free the man, you will need to go and fetch an item from a nearby boss, although it is quite easy to do.

You should also be careful, as the moment you free the man, he will attempt to attack you. Thankfully, he is weak and cowardly and easily defeated. Once you have freed him and beaten him into submission, he will become a very useful merchant, however, so it is worth doing.

To free the man, jump up out of the ravine and then make your way up to the very top of the main area, continuing in the direction you went from Squall Hideout Shrine to reach the man. You will come to an enemy with a shield, so take them out and then go into the cave on the left.

In here are more enemies, including two that rudely spit snakes at you on a platform to the right. It has steps, so walk up there and take them out, then deal with the stone enemy in the center. Now, cross over toward the burning torches and head up the steep incline on the far side.

Be careful here, as there is a powerful enemy you can get a Spirit from. This is the Poisestone Spirit, and it takes a bunch of damage, so be careful. Take them out, along with the other enemy who tries to surprise you from the right, then continue up to the top. Here, you will find the Mother of Stones, a massive statue with glowing blue crystals protruding from it. This is an interesting fight, and you need to hit the statue a few times to start it. A health bar will appear, but the statue doesn’t move.

Keep hitting it, and watch out for stone monsters who come at you from both sides. Deal with them, then go back to hitting the Mother of Stones and repeat the cycle until she breaks. This will drop an item for you, and you can take it back to the Man In Stone, give it to him, kick his butt when he climbs out of the ground, and then the next time you travel back into the Squall Hideout area, he will sell you items.
