Turns out it’s not “just like shooting fish in a barrel”
Remember the time when kids scoffed at fishing games because they only cared about games where they could shoot stuff? The tables have turned, and the developers at Bungie know it. Destiny 2 has returned withĀ Season Of the Deep. Even though it introduces a bunch of new stuff, all the rage right now is fishing, so let’s dig into that.
What is fishing?
Ok, fishing in the world of Destiny 2Ā works just like fishing in our world, except they use neon-lit lines to catch the fish. Also, you’ll probably reap better rewards from fishing in Destiny 2 than you would in real life.
How to go fishing and get those sweet rewards?
You cannot go fishing from the get-go. First, players will need to complete the first part of the “Into the Depths” quest. Once done, players can interact with Hawthorne to begin a quest called “Gone Fishin”.
Key requirements for fishing
Now that you have your license, you’ll need bait and a spot to fish.
You get bait from grinding in public events, playlist activities, as well as the new seasonal activities, Salvage and Deep Dive. The amount of bait players get will vary from one attempt to another.
You can fish in the EDZ, in the Court of Savathƻn, and on Nessus.
How to catch fish
Get cozy at the docks and cast the line. No big surprises from here on, as players will have to wait for a short amount of time until something pulls the line. Once something bites, players should right for the right moment to pull as that will enhance the chances of getting better fish.
Remember to fish socially
The developers know that competitive players can just play regular Destiny 2. so the focus here is social. To entice players to get together, Destiny buffs the odds of getting exotic fish if you’re fishing in the vicinity of others ā even if you don’t share a fireteam.
If the docks you’re at look like this, then find some other docks to fish in (or reload). Happy fishing.
Final note: No, you can’t just shoot the fish.
