How to get Walker Brain in No Man’s Sky

Gear up for a Sentinel fight.

Walker Brain in No Manā€™s Sky is one of the main items required to craft a Conflict Scanner. For those unfamiliar with the Conflict Scanner, it is a starship technology that identifies the conflict level of a star system in the Galatic Map without having to warp to that system, thus saving players time and resources. Moreover, Walker Brain is also used to build Explosive Drones, which are temporary buffs that increase a frigateā€™s combat capabilities by 10 points for the next expedition.

Apart from these two items, a Walker Brain in No Manā€™s Sky has no other use so far. If youā€™re looking to build any of these items, this is how you can get a Walker Brain in No Manā€™s Sky.

As the name suggests, the Walker Brain is the computer of a Sentinel Walker that you encounter in No Manā€™s Sky. Finding a Walker Brain requires you to first locate a Sentinel Pillar. You can find Sentinels in star systems where there are planets with High Sentinel Activity. There are also certain valuable items which automatically trigger the arrival of a Sentinel, such as picking up a Gravitino Ball.

Equip yourself well for a fight against the Sentinels which will get increasingly tough as the wanted level increases. Once the wanted level reaches stage five, you can continue to eliminate Sentinels until they stop spawning and the location of a Sentinel Pillar is revealed. The advanced Sentinel Walker you will find at the Sentinel Pillar has three health bar, so make sure you target your attacks to deal damage to the upper torso, to the centre, and to the legs to deplete these health bars.

The defeated Sentinel Walker will leave behind a container that has a Walker Brain which you can collect.

There are also other ways to get a Walker Brain in No Manā€™s Sky. You can get them from the Mercenaries Guild Envoy but you will have to build a strong reputation with the Guild while also getting lucky to have the item available to redeem at a Mercenaries Guild Envoy. You might even find a Walker Brain in a Suspicious Packet (Goods) item, but thereā€™s no guarantee. Mission Board and Nexus missions can also have objectives to pick up that rewards players with a Walker Brain.
