How to Get Vainthorn in Warframe

Vainthorn is a resource that was introduced to Warframe in the Abyss of the Dagath update. If you want to build that fancy new Warframe, you will need a lot of it.

How to get Vainthorn in Warframe

To get Vainthorn, you will need to complete Abyssal Zone missions by using an Abyssal Beacon. Abyssal Beacons can be obtained from the core Syndicates. An Abyssal Beacon will give you access to the new node on the Ceres map. This is an Extermination mission where you will need to find an item called a Defixio, kill the required number of enemies, and then extract.

Completing the mission rewards between 6 and 8 Vainthorns or between 8 and 12 of them on Steel Path. Within the lore, Vainthorn is the rare thorn of an extinct rose and a vital component in Orokin Defixios and other technology. You will need Vainthorn to get your hands on Dagath.

How to get an Abyssal Beacon

To get an Abyssal Beacon, you will need to spend 5000 Standings with any of the core Syndicates. These are Steel Meridian, Arbiters of Hexis, Cephalon Suda, The Perrin Sequence, Red Veil, and New Loka. You can find their enclaves on the Relays, or you can check out their offerings via the Syndicate console in the front left corner of the Orbiter. Each Abyssal Beacon will get you access to a single run of the Abyssal Zone mission.

How to find the Defixios

There are 8 Defixios hidden on the ship in the Abyssal Zone, along with a small number of friendly crew who will be hiding, overcome by fear. If you find and talk to them, they will give you a clue about where to find a Defixios, and it will appear on the map as a yellow circle. If you play solo, you only need one Defixios, and if you play with a group, then each player will need one. You can find and deposit a Defixios and then go back and find another if you want to help the team.

If you play with a squad, whoever starts the mission will spend an Abyssal Beacon to do so, but nobody else will, so squad farming is highly effective for Vainthorn.

• Echo Curse: Take damage when you cast Abilities. 
• Hunter Curse: Take damage as you move. Land jumps for a brief reprieve from this curse.
• Exposure Curse: Your Shields get removed. 
• Blood Curse: Your Health drains steadily. Killing enemies restores it. 
• Weariness Curse: Your energy drains steadily.
• Shadow Curse: Your light source dims steadily. Melee kills brighten it.
