How to get to the Haligtree in Elden Ring

One of the cooler places to get your head kicked in over and over.

The Haligtree is the hardest area in Elden Ring, so those looking for an even greater challenge go here. Malenia also resides here, so good luck with that. In any case, hereā€™s what you need to do to get here.

How to get to the Haligtree in Elden Ring

First, you will need to progress far enough into the game to get through Leyndell. By progressing far enough, that means you will also have to defeat Morgott, the Omen King.

Upon defeating him, Melina will give you the Rold Medallion. This is a key item that allows you to use the Grand Lift of Rold in the Mountaintops of the Giants. Before progressing, you will have to backtrack a bit and complete Latennaā€™s quest line.

Travel back to the Folly on the Lake Site of Grace in Liurnia. Head directly south until you find a cavernous underpass. Youā€™ll know youā€™re in the right direction when the water starts getting muddy and youā€™re encountering giant crab enemies. Youā€™ll also start seeing dead bodies hung at stakes in the distance. Upon getting through here, youā€™re now in the Village of the Albinaurics.

Fight your way through here until you find this giant pot, past the Site of Grace. Hit it or roll into it to unveil Albus, an Albinauric NPC. Youā€™ll know itā€™s him when he says to you ā€œPlease, no. Dear me!ā€

Exhaust all of his dialogue until he eventually gives you the Haligree Secret Medallion (Right). This is one of the two pieces needed to access the area to the Haligtree later on.

This next part is optional, but you can then actually find Latenna after clearing the Lakeside Crystal Cave dungeon. There will be an area that you can go outside of called the Slumbering Wolfā€™s Shack. This is all located back in Liurnia of the Lakes, just west of the Malefactorā€™s Evergaol

Here, you can actually talk to her and start her quest. Sheā€™ll talk to you about a medallion and acknowledge that Albus entrusted you with the other half of the Medallion. Keep talking to her until she mentions Castle Sol, which is where you need to go to get the other half.

Now, go back to the Grand Lift of Rold and proceed onward in the new snowy area. Move northward, beyond Zamor Ruins, the Giantsā€™ Mountaintop Catacombs, past the long bridge and to the frozen river.

As you cross the frozen river, you should find the Snow Valley Ruins Overlook Site of Grace. From here, head north until you see a castle just down the cliff from where youā€™re at.

This is Castle Sol, previously mentioned by Latenna. Clear this area and defeat the boss, Commander Niall. Defeating him will yield you the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left) key item.

With both parts of the Medallion, go back to the Grand Lift of Rold. Instead of having the ability to Hoist the medallion, you should have a Switch Action option. Press it to be able to now ā€œHoist secret medallionā€. Proceed onward to now be in a new area called the Hidden Path to the Haligtree.

Get out of the catacombs and head north. Once again, pass the frozen river until you come across Ordina, Liturgical Town. Explore this area until you enter an Evergaol. This one will be different than others, as you have to find the four torches and light them while surviving an onslaught of ranged enemies.Ā

Upon clearing this area, you can now find a portal that takes you to the Haligtree. With this now done, youā€™re that much closer to fighting Malenia.
