How to get Thunder Stones in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

They’re a common stone, so don’t worry

Stones are a classic evolutionary method dating back to the first generation of Pokemon, and in Scarlet & Violet, they can range in complexity: in terms of how difficult it is to acquire them. Here’s how to easily get a steady flow of Thunder Stones.

What do Thunder Stones do in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

Thunder Stones are once again used for evolving Pokemon. All you need to do is have a Pokemon who can evolve via a Thunder Stone. Then, select the item from your bag, and select that Pokemon.

Here’s a full list of the evolutionary tracks for the Paldea Pokedex:

  • Tadbulb -> Bellibot
  • Pikachu -> Raichu
  • Eevee -> Jolteon
  • Magneton -> Magnezone
  • Electrick -> Elektross

Find them in the overworld

Unlike a few other stones, Thunder Stones have a fixed drop at several spots in Paldea, or randomly through “sparkles” on the ground in East Province (Area Three)

You can find a location for a free Thunder Stone in the gallery above: at the top of a spire in West Province (Area One).

Your Pokedex will give you one for free once you’ve caught 30 Pokemon

After catching 30 Pokemon and recording them in your Pokedex, go to the Pokedex menu (X) and earn it from the reward track.

You can find the full breakdown of the Pokedex reward system here.

You can get them from the auction house in Porto Marinada

As one of many items available in the auction house’s repertoire, you can earn Thunder Stones through the auction house, if you check the offerings each day.

We would not recommend this method though, as there are far easier ways to get them.

Buying them directly at a Delibird Presents shop is the quickest way

Unlocked by defeating three gyms, Thunder Stones can be purchased at Delibird Presents shops across Paldea. They only cost 3,000 Pokedollars, so it isn’t even something that you’ll need to break the bank for. Locate them through the general goods section.

We have a full Delibird Presents guide here for reference, including all shop locations.
