Rare mount hunters might be familiar with Thrayir’s design. The Stormcrow mount was datamined back in Mists of Pandaria, but never made it into any official content. But now, the legend is real, and you can get your hands on this feathered friend! All it takes is a few trips to the Siren Isle during some turbulent weather.
What You Need to Summon Thrayir
This isn’t a simple boss drop, so prepare yourself for some legwork to summon this bad boy of the beach. You’ll need five different Runekeys from around Siren Isle. Of course, it wouldn’t be special if they were lying around, so you’ll have to earn each one. Fortunately, these are great things to grab while doing other stuff around the island to grind out some currency for the vendors.
The biggest thing to note is that just about everything you do here has to be during the Seafury Tempest phase of the island. To activate this phase, you’ll have to complete the Serpent’s Wrath weekly quest. Do this by completing world quests and events around the island. Then, you speak to the NPC Suzie Boltwrench at the quest hub and enter and exit the storm phase. Note, this is Suzie, NOT Sally. They’re mistaken often, and they hate it.
- The Whirling Runekey – Find the rare Ksvir the Forgotten. They’re in the southernmost room of The Forgotten Vault during a storm phase. This should be a 100% drop.
- Torrential Runekey – Collect 7 Torrential Fragments. They are a low drop chance from any mob on Siren Isle during a storm.
- Thunderous Runekey – Collect 5 Thunderous Fragments. These drop from treasure chests, and as luck would have it; this can be inside OR outside the storm phase.
- Cyclonic Runekey – Drops from Zek’ul the Shipbreaker. You can fight Ze’kul in Deadfin Mire during the Seafury Tempest. This does not appear to drop 100% of the time, so you may have to farm it.
- Turbulent Runekey – Assemble 3 Turbulent Fragments. These are hiding in three locations around the island during the Seafury Tempest phase. Behind an abandoned inn, inside the Rotting Hole cave, and inside the Spirit-Scarred cave. Look for the Kul-Tiran ghosts to find the fragments.
Where to find Thrayir to summon him
Once you have all five Runekeys, head into the Forgotten Vault on Siren Isle. Remember, you can only do this while the Seafury Tempest is assaulting the island with storms. As a reminder, you get to the Forgotten Vault by going into the big cave in the northernmost part of the map and clicking on the Singing Tablet inside.
Once inside, head to the eastern room, you’ll see Thrayir’s corpse laying on a platform. Use the five runekeys on the interactable pillars surrounding him. One resurrection later, and you’ll be rocking an electric new mount!
