How to get the Starborn Armor in Starfield

There's a Starborn waiting in the sky.

There are some pretty neat suits of armor in Starfield. While the purpose of this armor is to keep you alive, stopping the toxic atmosphere of weird planets from melting your face off and providing protection against enemy attack, it also has to look cool. Few look as cool as the Starborn armor sets.

The Starborn armor is worn by, unsurprisingly, the Starborn, an important character that you’ll meet during the campaign. I won’t go into major details on who or what they are, but it’s pretty cool, so keep making your way through the story.

To get the Starborn armor set, you will need to finish the main campaign and begin a new game plus run. Doing so will grant you the highly protective armor. The suit of armor you are gifted is called the Starborn Spacesuit Astra, and it will have the following stats:

  • PHYS:149
  • ENERGY: 149
  • EM: 149
  • Thermal: 50
  • Airborne: 50
  • Corrosive: 50
  • Radiation: 50

The armor will also roll with three Legendary traits, although these are randomly generated when you receive the armor. As such, if you wish, you can save scum your way to the ultimate armor. Now, there is another little secret to the Starborn armor. As you progress through the new game plus ranks, you will unlock a new armor set each time, all the way up to NG +10. Each suit has slightly improved stats than the ones before.

  1. NG + 1 – Astra
  2. NG + 2 – Materia
  3. NG + 3 – Locus
  4. NG + 4 – Tenebris
  5. NG + 5 – Spacesuit Solis
  6. NG + 6 – Gravitas
  7. NG + 7 – Bellum
  8. NG + 8 – Tempus
  9. NG + 9 – Avitus
  10. NG + 10 – Venator

Who exactly are the Starborn?

I’ve been saving the heavy spoilers for beyond this point, but Starfield leans into the whole multiverse theory pretty hard in the main story. The Starborn are capable of using the Unity (it’s the main space McGuffin in the story) to jump between universes. You yourself can become a Starborn by using the Unity to start your New Game + experience, and that is how you get the armor. If you want something in the early game that is gonna provide plenty of protection, then you should get the Mantis armor. It’s fantastic, and you can grab a great ship at the same time.
