The Quetzal minion is difficult to get. If you want to get one without taking a loan and possibly selling some of your organs on the black market, you’re going to have to put your trust in someone outside of yourself.

If you want the Quetzal minion, you might want to start sucking up to your Retainers, and possibly giving them a new Job.

The Quetzal minion can only be found on Waterside Exploration XXXI Ventures. This means that your Retainer needs to be a level 100 Fisher before you even stand a chance of having this bird follow you on your adventures.

On the off chance that your Retainer is already a Fisher, this won’t be too difficult. Just level them up to 100 and then send them off on their own adventures. If, on the other hand, your Retainer is not a Fisher, things get a little complicated.

You’ll need to change your Retainers Job, and then level it all the way to 100. Thankfully, there is an item called One Retainer’s Journey available on the FFXIV Online Store which will immediately increase their level to 90, which definitely makes things a bit easier.

After that, all you need to do is wait and hope. It’s definitely not guaranteed that your Retainer will bring back a Quetzal, but at least you’re in with a chance.

Can you buy the Quetzal minion in Final Fantasy XIV?

If you have over 100 million Gil in your back pocket, then the answer is yes.

Currently, there is only one Quetzal minion for sale on North American servers according to Universalis, and it’s selling for 120 million Gil, although previous ones have sold for 100 million and 60 million. It’s safe to say that rarity is definitely increasing the purchase price for this bird, but hopefully the market should settle once more have been obtained and sold.
