To get a limited edition MTG Outlaws of Thunder Junction X Cowboy Bebop product, fans must purchase sealed Magic: The Gathering products from Wizards Play Network (WPN) stores at or above a total amount of 3,000 Yen between April 26, 2024, and March 31, 2025.

Every order will include postcards featuring the amazing art from the event’s trailer. Some of these postcards will also give customers the chance to grab a limited edition playmat or card sleeve with that same art.

At first, I thought this was a Japan-exclusive crossover, but then Wizards of the Coast put news about how everyone outside of Japan could get some of these goodies, too. For those of us outside of Japan, the details of how to get MTG Outlaws of Thunder Junction X Cowboy Bebop crossover cards are pretty simple.

You’ll need to participate in and win a Standard Showdown in a local WPN Store. Use the official map to find your closest WPN store and head there to get your hands on these cards. There are five in total, each one only available for a limited time. I’ve outlined these times below.

  • Ossification: August 2 ā€“ September 19, 2024
  • Disdainful Stroke: September 27 ā€“ November 7, 2024
  • Go for the Throat: November 15, 2024 ā€“ January 30, 2025
  • Lightning Strike: February 7 ā€“ March 2, 2025
  • Snakeskin Veil: April 4 ā€“ May 29, 2025

In Japan, the stores you must purchase MTG products from are part of a list of local stores around Japan. I’ve checked these out, and they simply don’t have an online element, so that rules them out if you’re hoping to try to game the system and pick up some Japanese cards regardless.

However, Amazon Japan and Rakuten Books are listed alongside these local stores. I’ve looked into both, and while you can’t ship directly from these stores to an address outside of Japan, there are services out there that will allow you to do so. I can’t speak to their legitimacy, but I’ve certainly seen a few content creators use these services to purchase goods from Japan and have them shipped to their doors. If you wanted to be in with a chance of getting any of these rare items or just one of the postcards, this would be the way to do it.

While the postcards included with all purchases over 3,000 Yen are more abundant, only 1,000 people will have a chance of getting a piece of Magic: The Gathering history.
