It’s always summer somewhere in Eorzea, so crafting (or buying) the FFXIV Moonfire Vest Set is well worth any time or Gil involved. Historically, much of the Moonfire-related gear stays regulated to limited-time events or the cash shop, but there’s one outfit always up for grabs. Below, we’ll break down how to acquire your own vest and swim trunks set, so you can head to Costa del Sol in style.
How to get FFXIV’s Moonfire Vest Set
As we mentioned, this swimsuit ‘fit isn’t limited to FFXIV’s seasonal Moonfire Faire. Everything listed here is craftable or available on the Market Board. Even so, players still leveling crafters could make the swimsuit themselves, as it belongs to a set of older, Level 50 crafting recipes. The craftsmanship and control stat requirements are low, so pick up any post-A Realm Reborn equipment for easy grinds.
To make the Moonfire Vest Set, you’ll need a small supply of Mariner Cotton Cloth, Silk Thread, and Hippogryph Leather. Mariner Cotton Cloth comes from Timeworn Boarskin or Unhidden Leather maps. Silk Thread is another craftable, made from Silkworm Coon and Effervescent Water time-gated gatherables. The shoes only need a single Hippogryph Leather, made from Black Alumen and Hippogryph Skin.

Unfortunately, the vest and trunks set remain gender-locked. If you’re looking for FFXIV’s female glamour recipe, we’ve got a preview and guide ready for that, too.
FFXIV Optional Items Shop: Moonfire Faire
The Moonfire Faire 2023 event is over, so if you don’t see what you’re looking for available as a crafter piece, you may be out of luck. Square Enix has an FFXIV Optional Item Shop with tons of summer-themed glam, but you’ll have to pay real-world cash for them. Every year, the shop tends to update with the previous event’s rewards, but outfits like the FFXIV Moonfire Vest Set are strictly crafted goods.
Older items, like the Southern Seas Swimsuit, Endless Summer Attire, and Moonfire Hapi are all locked to the Square Enix cash shop. If you completed older events and think you threw the rewards away, speak to the Calamity Salvager in any starting city to reclaim your goods.
