With so many weapons and sources, however, it can be tough to know where to get your favorite tools of the trade. Here’s how to get the Midnight Coup hand cannon in Destiny 2.

Where to find the Midnight Coup hand cannon in Destiny 2

The easiest way to get the Midnight Coup hand cannon in Destiny 2 is to farm Onslaught playlist activities. These can be found within the Vanguard menu, where you’d normally select the standard strike playlists or Nightfalls. Either playlist works, but the one that has you do 10 waves instead of 50 waves will be much faster. Completing these 10 waves rewards a random weapon from a pool, with one potentially being the Midnight Coup.

Before you jump into farming it, be sure to speak with Commander Zavala in the Tower first and interact with the Brave Attunement menu near the bottom. Here, you can select one weapon to increase its drop chance by 60%. Of course, you’ll want to select the Midnight Coup here. This should result in far less attempts needed to get the weapon, let alone the god roll.

What is the god roll for the Midnight Coup?

The Midnight Coup sports itself the Adaptive Frame archetype, which increases stats all around without any notable downsides. This is great, since it means we can simply pick perks we like, and the Midnight Coup has a nice selection. Among those, these are widely considered the best:

  • Barrel: Arrowhead Brake
  • Magazine: Accurized Rounds
  • Perk 1: Explosive Payload
  • Perk 2: Kinetic Tremors

Arrowhead Brake is a classic barrel used by a lot of weapons, providing improved recoil and handling speed. Accurized Rounds is also great for the bonus range, so sniping with it is a little less painful. Explosive Payload has always been a powerhouse, seeing as it helps a ton for ad-clear potential. Finally we have Kinetic Tremors, which causes sustained damage against one target to deal a shockwave of damage to nearby targets. These two perks together mean your ad-clear will be through the roof.

If you want some other options, Tactical Mag is a great replacement for Accurized Rounds since it gives improved stability, reload speed, and magazine size. These tend to be better for PvE. Firefly is also a worthy replacement for Explosive Payload. It may require kills, but the explosions are nice, scorching nearby targets helps with damage, and reload speed is always a plus.
