How to get the Climbing Gear set in Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

What a thrill…

Recommended Videos

Climbing is a cornerstone of Tears of the Kingdom. Getting Link to the top of mountains may be easy if you’re a savant with Zonai items, but sometimes you need to rely on good ol’ fashioned climbing. Luckily, you can avoid the slow climbing speed and stamina drain thanks to the Climbing Gear set.

The gear set is hidden around Hyrule, begging to be found. However, if you happen to pass by an NPC named “Meeshy” on the path near Hyrule Garrison Ruins, she will point you in the direction of this useful set, and two others as well. However, you don’t need to speak to her if you want to find the climbing gear, you can just run to the three locations here right now!

Where to find the Climbing Gear (torso piece) in TOTK

There are three pieces to the climbing gear set in TOTK: the bandana, the boots, and of course, the torso piece. Starting from Lookout Landing, if you make your way towards North Hyrule Plain, you’ll find the North Hyrule Plain Cave. Just up the path is the New Serrenne Stable, and a Shrine of Light, Passing these means you’ve gone too far.

On the map, the coordinates are (-1187, 0641, 0072). Heading through the cave you’ll have to deal with some Like-Likes and some other assorted enemies. Once you’ve made it to the second waterfall, you should notice some mushrooms growing behind the wall of water. Stepping behind it, you’ll see a small shrine-like building, and a chest, containing the climbing gear.

How to get the Climbing Bandana

The Climbing Bandana is found in the Polymus Mountain Cave in Zora’s Domain, if you have the Shrine by Mipha Court unlocked, fast traveling to that location is the quickest way to get there. The cave’s coordinates are (3469, 0640, 0271). Once inside, you’ll have to climb on the rocks until you reach the path on the other side. While sounds easy, the cave is constantly dripping water from the ceiling.

You’ll either need the Froggy Armor, or some well-placed Zonai hover stones, to make it to the top. Once you’ve made it, the Bandana is sitting in an alcove to the right.

How to get the Climbing Boots

The final piece of the gear can be found in the Upland Zorana Byroads, the closest Fast Travel spot being the Skyview Tower just north. The cave’s coordinates are (2861, 0347, 0228). Once you head inside, you’ll see a small body of water and a Rock-Like on the left path. Take the right path, which is easy to miss. You’ll encounter another Rock-Like; you can avoid it by running past.

You’ll then find yourself in some waterlogged ruins, with a large metal door at the end. Head to the door, and lift it up with the Ultrahand to drain the water. Doing so will let you enter the room to the right of the door underneath the ramp. This room holds the final piece of the gear.

With all three pieces of the Climbing set acquired, scaling walls will be a breeze, and will drain less stamina!
