How to get the Centurio Tiger mount in Final Fantasy XIV

This requires a lot of dedication

There are a few mounts in Final Fantasy XIV which are the kind of things most players want, but very few will ever manage to get. One of these mounts is the Centurio Tiger, which according to FFXIV Collect, is only owned by a miniscule 0.5% of players. So how do you get it?

Well, not easily.

The Centurio Tiger is the reward for getting an achievement called “You Got Game”. It’s a hunt achievement, which is always pretty difficult to achieve, but this one is special. To get “You Got Game”, you’ll need to complete two other staggeringly difficult achievements:

  • Bring Your A Game V
    • Slay 3,000 rank A elite marks
  • Bring Your S Game V
    • Slay 2,000 rank S elite marks

So, in total, you’re going to have to take down 5,000 marks in The Hunt, but not just any marks. A rank and S rank marks are among the toughest bosses in the entirety of Final Fantasy XIV, requiring a lot of effort and concentration, plus some luck, to defeat. However, this wouldn’t be much of a guide if I didn’t at least offer some advice on how to make this slightly easier on yourself.

Regardless of how you tackle this gargantuan challenge, you’re going to be in for a massive grind. Below, I’ve put together a list of tips that will hopefully help you in your quest to get a Centurio Tiger:

Focus on lower level A and S ranks

This one should be obvious, but the higher the level of the target, the harder the fight is going to be. A level 50 or 60 S rank is going to be easier to defeat than a level 80 or 90 A rank, so try to stick to lower level areas.

Utilize player made resources to track hunt marks

Resources such as Faloop! are amazing for tracking different A and S ranks. They not only help you to figure out where to find them but also give some idea as to whether the hunt marks have been downed recently and are therefore unable to spawn for a while.

Join in with Hunt Trains

This is a little harder to advise on as the prevalence of Hunt Trains varies from server to server. But, again, using Faloop! can help with this, because they advertise Hunt Trains over on their Discord server

Every so often, someone will enter the city states and put out a shout message that a particular S rank has spawned – go to their marker. You’ll likely find a Hunt Train there and be able to join them.

Take your time

I know how much you want this Tiger, trust me, I do, but it’s not going anywhere. The achievement isn’t about to change or disappear, and you don’t need to force yourself into gaming burnout to get it. There’s a reason that so few players have this mount – it’s arguably one of the toughest grinds to undertake in the whole of Final Fantasy XIV. Take breaks, you’ll get it eventually.
