How to get the Apex Predator rocket launcher in Destiny 2

Big rocket go boom.

There are a lot of weapons you can get in Destiny 2 that are viable in higher levels of content. The new Call sidearm is a great example of that, being easy to get from the new Final Shape expansion content and incredibly powerful. One such example, however, comes from long before. Here’s how to get the Apex Predator rocket launcher in Destiny 2.

The Apex Predator is acquired exclusively as a drop from completing Last Wish raid encounters. This raid can be found when looking at the map for the Dreaming City location, and selecting it there. Completing the full raid on all three characters nets you a lot of chances to get the Apex Predator, with a lower chance at getting a great roll for it. If the raid rotation is Last Wish that week (as in you get a pinnacle for completing it), you can run the raid as many times as you want to get as many rewards as you want.

If you’re looking to craft the Apex Predator and get those crispy Enhanced Traits, there’s a few ways you can get Deepsight versions of weapons so you can acquire the pattern. Each raid encounter has a chance to drop a Deepsight weapon, so running it as much as possible can drop one for you. You can also acquire a quest from Hawthorne in the Tower each week on each character to receive a guaranteed Deepsight weapon drop. With five Deepsight versions of any weapon, you can get the pattern and work on crafting it.

What’s the god roll for the Apex Predator?

The Apex Predator has a lot of great perks and attachments to make it destroy enemies, but the following choices are easily some of the best:

  • Launcher Barrel: Quick Launch
  • Magazine: Impact Casing
  • Perk 1: Reconstruction
  • Perk 2: Bait and Switch

Quick Launch and Impact Casing are great in tandem as they provide better ease of use for the launcher, while also increasing projectile speed. Reconstruction acts as a different flavor of Auto-Loading Holster, potentially adding an extra rocket to the magazine while you use a favored special weapon for boss DPS. Finally we have Bait and Switch, which is great if you’re using your primary and special ammo weapons before a boss DPS phase. Another great option in the second perk slot is Explosive Light, which gives future rockets more damage when picking up Orbs of Power.
