How to get the Speaking Stone minion in FFXIV Dawntrail

Despite the name, it doesn't seem to speak

Minions will always be sought after in Final Fantasy XIV. There’s something for everybody and all tastes, and let’s face it, they’re cute. One of the new Dawntrail dungeons drops a particularly interesting one – I promise it’s cute, if you squint.

The Speaking Stone is… a bizarre little minion. It’s hard to tell where its eyes are – are those them, in what looks like its belly? I’m not sure. This one is definitely charming in its own way.

To get the Speaking Stone minion the “official” way, you’ll need to reach level 95 and play through the MSQ until you unlock The Skydeep Cenote dungeon. You’ll get here after you reach Yak T’el

The Speaking Stone minion is a possible drop from the last coffer of this dungeon, so you’ll need to go through all three bosses – Feather Ray, Firearms, and Maulskull – before you have a chance to get the minion.

The drop rate for the Speaking Stone seems higher than the drop rate for most other dungeon obtained Dawntrail minions. I’ve run this dungeon a fair few times and seen it drop at least five times.

As it’s a tradeable item, yes, you can purchase the Speaking Stone minion on the marketboard. At the time of writing, this is one of the cheapest of all the Dawntrail minions to purchase and is selling for less than 200,000 Gil on my home world.
