How to get the Rested Buff in Enshrouded

Sheltered, warmed, and moisturized?

After a hard day’s work in Enshrouded’s dangerous fog, take a load off and build up that Rested Buff. True to life, it’s a good 10 minutes of reprieve after slogging away in the mines. “Rested” offers Endshrouded characters a little boost for indulging in a nice sit.

How to Rest ā€” a little in-universe self-help

As a rule, recharge your Rested status by finding safety in a shelter, preferably with a few decorative items, and a warm fire.

If you’re on the road, stopping by any ole Campfire in Enshrouded charges your Rested Buff, at least a little. It’s not at its max level by any means, but use X on mouse and keyboard controls to sit down and extend the buff a little more. Notice some criteria, like the Sheltered status, changes if you’re sitting or sleeping.

When the timer is green, you’ve hit your max Rested buff potential and can move along. You’ll want to always keep this timer going as much as possible. If you’re familiar with Valheim, it serves a similar purpose here, improving your maximum Stamina charge and HP.

In the top-left of Enshrouded’s UI, you’ll notice a little status indicator with “Rested” in the corner and a timer. The timer charges near fires, inside shelters, and even jumps up from heavily decorated bases.

To charge your Rested Buff, simply walk up to a stray Campfire or, even better, your Flame Alter. It’ll improve to some degree, but notice the little three-item criteria in the checklist below “Rested.” That checklist determines how high it’ll charge, or even if it’s recovering.

Raising your Rested Buff

To increase Enshrouded’s Rested buff time, you’ve gotta put in a little work to get it there. Factors into Rested include Sheltered, Warmth, and Comfort factors. The first two you easily control, but the latter demands more work.

The most basic of shelters ā€” yes, that means even you folks who build a cube ā€” fulfill Sheltered requirements. Warmth just means a static fire, so your torch doesn’t count, but the Flame Alter, Campfire, and Fireplace craftables all keep you cozy. The Kiln and Forge don’t count, either, so don’t place it for strategic warmth. I’ve already tried.

Comfort levels, however, vary between items. Enshrouded may not care about how long I painstakingly crafted my cute little cottage, but it does care that there’s a Crude Wooden Table, Table, and Bench inside. The TLDR: resting outside with a Flame Alter only gets me to Comfort Level 5, and inside with a bunch of basic junk gets me Comfort Level 12.
